Mr. Fred L. Graf, PE founder of Geo-Graf, pioneered the use of GPR for utility leak detection. What he discovered through his GPR research and development in the 1980's was that GPR will not "see" the hole in the pipe, but it is able to detect the effect of the leak on the surrounding subsoil. In other words; using GPR we'll detect the extra dry subsoil surrounding a natural gas leak, or the excessively wet subsoil surrounding a water leak. By careful data analysis we can usually pinpoint the leak area to facilitate single-dig repairs.  Mr. Graf also realized that GPR could find pipeline leaks in their infancy, before any signs of a leak reached the surface. In turn this created a whole new application for GPR in the assessment of pipeline and utility systems.

Geo-Graf has successfully used GPR to assess and delineate leaks at nuclear power plants, military bases, for state highway agencies and utility companies. Contact us today to discuss your project or request a cost proposal.
